Open to Producing Short Films (and thoughts on love)

I stayed up late watching Pride & Prejudice & Braveheart yesterday. I really love period films; I find them so romantic, and I was in a romantic mood.

That said, I wish that we made period films that would reflect an updated / more modern view of love. What’s the point of perpetuating old stereotypes of love. It just creates confusion and pain, because some people don’t have the experience or exposure to ‘modern‘ views of love. I was one of these people.

What’s a better view for me? Each of us is here to explore who we are, and the universe takes care of us. We live in a loving place, an abundant place, and there’s infinite amounts of love and abundance available to us. Love could come in many ways; parent to child, from siblings, from friends, from pets, from lovers, from strangers. Love is a state we feel, an internal state we generate. The notion that love is self generated is so powerful, and also strange enough to our human minds that it’s easier to resign ourselves to the fact that we can only experience love through another person. It’s like object permanence doesn’t apply to love for most of us, we don’t or refuse to develop the capacity to see that. It feels lonely to see it that way. I think films that explore this would help us understand love in a different way. And perhaps, reduce our suffering.

Don’t misunderstand me; just because the feeling of love is self generated doesn’t mean we don’t need others. On the contrary, I think understanding love in this way could make us appreciate each other more. And help us suffer less…because of the non selfish, open, self empowerment this perspective provides.
