Why I Volunteer: Gratitude, Connection, and Growth

It’s the weekend, and I’m taking a moment to reflect with gratitude and share why I believe it’s so important to make time for volunteering. I’ve been fortunate in my life, especially over the past few years, which have been fast-paced but full of learnings. Now, I find myself in a plateau before a growth spurt, where I’m allowing myself to slow down, reflect, and reconnect.

I value love, peace, curiosity, surprise, and empowerment. I’ve noticed that when I help others, when I give back, I’m also giving back to myself. It recharges me. It’s a symbiotic exchange—giving, gives back.

Throughout my life, there have been many moments when others have helped me without expecting anything in return. I believe this is part of our nature, to help one another—at least if you’re wise. :D

I invite you to take a breath, slow down, and appreciate the present moment. The next time an experience or something someone says touches you, reflect on why it did. I’m always moved when people are simply good. That floats my boat.
